Manual Handling and Client Handling

This course will provide delegates with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills of correct moving and handling procedures appropriate to their individual work environments in order to reduce the risk of injury.

Aims and Objectives

At the end of the course the candidate will:

• Have a basic knowledge of relevant legislation, including Manual Handling Operations Regulations, 1992.

• Appreciate their vulnerability to Manual Handling/Client Handling injuries and the relevance of statistics and legislation to the manner in which Client Handling tasks are conducted in the workplace.

• Apply their understanding of the workings of the spare to the ways in which they conduct Manual Client Handling task and be able to avoid back injuries caused by poor posture and inefficient movement.

• Have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the commonly used unsafe lifting practices that they are likely to come across in the course of their work.

• Understanding the appropriate use of small client handling acts in order to be able to move and handle their clients using only safe handling techniques and where applicable, be able to use client hoists appropriately.
