Aims and Objectives

At the end of the course the candidate will be able to:

• Identify 3P's

• Demonstrate how to assess the situation

• Explain the principles of diagnosis

• Demonstrate practically, mouth-to-mouth ventilation, CPR and recovery position on manikin

• Demonstrate knowledge of contents of first-aid boxes

• Demonstrate how to contact emergency services and pass on appropriate information

• Demonstrate Infection Control in relation to emergency first-aid treatment

• Demonstrate an awareness on treating shock

• Demonstrate an awareness of dealing with the unconscious client

• Demonstrate an awareness of dealing with choking and asthma

• Demonstrate an awareness of dealing with severe bleeds

• Demonstrate an awareness of dealing with broken bones

• Demonstrate practically how to apply an elevation sling

• Demonstrate how to deal with poisoning

• Demonstrate an awareness of dealing with a Heart Attack
