Basic Food Hygiene

This course aims to provide staff information and training on food hygiene in the care environment.

Aims and Objectives

At the end of the course the candidate will be able to:

  • Demonstrate an awareness of and experience in personal hygiene in relation to food hygiene

  • Demonstrate an awareness of safety within the kitchen area if allowing clients into the kitchen area

  • Identify the 'Danger Zone' and temperatures either side of it

  • Demonstrate an awareness of health and safety measures required in relation to food storage, temperature control and pest control

  • Show understanding of employers and employees responsibilities

  • Demonstrate knowledge in relation to statistics relating to food hygiene

  • Identify ways of reducing the risk of cross contamination

  • Quote the golden rule of storing food
